The physical education curriculum is designed to promote and maintain individual fitness through development and motor activities. The primary goal is to help the children develop a sense of fair play, leadership skills, enjoyment of movement, and the respect of rules and authority.
Students will receive letter grades based on participation. If they are not in proper uniform for P.E. or refuse to participate, they will receive a 0 for the day. Students will complete weekly "Fitness Logs'' in which they are required to be physically active for at least two hours a week. This is designed to get them up and moving (especially at home) rather than being ''glued" to their computers, TV's, phones, video games, etc. In addition, students 8th grade may also be assigned projects to supplement what they learn in school.
Students will also be participating the Presidential Youth Fitness Program where each student is assessed based on aerobic capacity, body composition, and muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility. The students will be preparing for this year-round and assessment will begin with a mile-run during the 4th Quarter. Details will be released in the future.
